Emergency Medical Attention

Not every health problem will require emergency medical attention. However, with some illnesses and injuries symptoms may develop slowly or seem minor on the surface, making it difficult to determine if your pet needs immediate medical care.

List of Typical Signs

Though not a complete list, here are some of the typical signs we often see at the Affordable Animal Emergency Clinic that we’d recommend bringing your pet in for:

  • Severe bleeding or bleeding that doesn't stop.
  • Choking, difficulty breathing or non-stop coughing and gagging.
  • Bleeding from nose, mouth, rectum, coughing up blood, or blood in the urine.
  • Inability to urinate or pass feces (stool), or obvious pain associated with urinating or passing stool.
  • Injuries to your pet's eye(s).
  • If you suspect or know your pet has eaten something poisonous (such as antifreeze, xylitol, chocolate, rodent poison, etc).
  • Seizures and/or staggering.
  • Fractured bones, severe lameness or inability to move leg(s).
  • Obvious signs of pain or extreme anxiety.
  • Heat stress or heat stroke
  • Severe vomiting or diarrhea - more than two episodes in a 24-hour period, or either of these combined with obvious illness, etc.
  • Refusal to drink for 24 hours or more.
  • Possibly hit by a car.
  • Attacked by a dog or bite wounds.
  • Swollen and tender part of the body.
  • Possible allergic reaction after getting into something.
  • Wounds and lacerations.
  • Stomach is bloated and mouth is foaming.
  • Possible C-section or pregnant pet is having problem pushing her pups or kittens for many hours.
  • An older pet in too much in pain.

There are many more symptoms and problems that are not on the above list that may require emergency medical care.
Please feel free to contact us and describe the unusual behaviors of your pet.

OUR SERVICES WILL HELP KEEP YOUR PET HEALTHY

In our facility, we offer digital X-rays and in-house laboratory for diagnostics. We’ve partnered with an experienced radiologist for X-ray interpretation when needed. Our veterinarian is skilled at performing surgeries for everything ranging from abscesses to lacerations to C-sections. We have multiple oxygen chambers for different sized patients for oxygen therapy. Our pharmacy provides our clients the convenience of prescribed medications and prescription foods when necessary.

If a patient requires a specialist, we refer them to a facility we trust that can accommodate them. Hospitalized patients are treated by our licensed veterinarians with state-of-the-art equipment. All hospitalized patients are monitored 24/7, whether it’s the weekend or a holiday.
